In this episode, I introduce you to my featured guest, Jean Day, who is a college professor in Georgia with 19 years of experience in the field of psychology and mental health. She is a former therapist and currently is writing her book “Things I’ve Learned Along the Way” due to be published in December 2016.
Jean shared her insights about why strong mental health is important and how to attain balance within a noisy world.
We discussed how the current affairs on a national and global scale affect our psyche in a negative way which can contribute to depression, anger, and negative emotions. She provided some keys to help live in a state of positivity, such as:

Be intentional to surround yourself with positive minded people and positive environments;
Ask yourself how you can cultivate even more positivity in your life;
Ask yourself how you can add value to someone else’s life which shifts your mindset into giving for others;
Focus on the present moment to avoid dwelling in the past and worrying about the future;
Incorporate meditation and stillness in your daily life;
Try to minimize time watching mainstream media;
Don’t allow your fears to control you;
Make time for real time friends and less time on social media; and
Write in a gratitude journal every day.
