She celebrates the release of new new book “Taming Your Wild Child: 7 Proven Principles for Raising Connected and Confident Children” (available on Amazon on March 14, 2017).
Within our conversation, Tangee shared her inspiration for her book. It happened while pregnant with her son and thus began her quest for a more holistic way of living in all aspects of her life. She shares her practice of “conscious parenting”. This is an approach that is gently guided. It entails setting boundaries in a loving and empathic environment without fear-based methods and/or using praise, rewards or punishments.
Within her workshops, Tangee helps parents to unravel and heal their childhood trauma in order to bring healthy patterns into their own family. She also emphasizes the need for community for support as parenting can be overwhelming and support is essential.
Ultimately, it is not about our children’s behavior that requires changing or “taming”. It is our own behavior that requires reflection to consciously raise our children.
She shares in her book “Conscious parenting is talking to yourself as if you are talking to someone that you love. The way we criticize, judge, and talk to ourselves can affect how we criticize, judge and talk to our children”. She goes on to share this simple, yet powerful quote:
“Our first love and last love is … self-love”
Her book will be available on Amazon.com on March 14, 2017
